Why Get Stoked On Revelstoke?

Skier at Revelstoke Mountain Resort on the Powder Highway during a ski tour with Fresh Adventures.

We Are Revelstoked

That’s right ladies and gentlemen. With the winter fast approaching we are finding ourselves very stoked on Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

This mountain is one of our favourite stops during our range of guided ski tours on the Powder Highway. But what gets us so stoked, you ask?

So glad you asked! Here is why:

Sunset at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Only Two Lifts- But Oh So Sweet

Revelstoke Mountain Resort only has two lifts that are worth thinking about for avid skiers and boarders. Sure Cupcake Chair (yes, it’s called that) can help you out if you run into flats, but Stoke Chair and Ripper Chair are what deliver the goods, round after round after round. Believe it or not, many high brow skiers and boarders out there are too discerning to be bothered with a resort that only has two chairs. And we are fine with that!

Highest Vertical Drop In North America

Take that Vail, or Jackson’s Hole, or wherever else! Revelstoke Mountain Resort boasts an alarming amount of vertical drop- over 5500 feet of lift accessible terrain, so start your wall squat regimen early. What does this feel like? Picture getting off the lift slightly cold, but stoked and starting your run. Turn through some fluffy pow, then dip into the trees for a slash fest. come out with your legs shaking, and out of breath to cruise down a cool and fast 1000 feet of groomer. (It’s OK, no one saw). Then dip back into the trees and go for another round on the thighs, emerging to jump off a cat track, landing right above your favourite mogul section. Rip those moguls like a pro (or like a bag of potatoes in my case), and come out relatively unscathed onto another cat track. Take this for two minutes, before leaping off onto another groomer of perfection, carving your way through a grade of edge digging snow, that takes you to your next mogul section. OK, these moguls are a little heavier now. As your legs tire, you realize you can’t push the snow like you did higher up. It’s pushing you now. You forget to breathe and keep pumping your knees up and down. OK, this goes on for a while but you get the picture. I digress…

A Heli and Cat Ski Mecca

If you manage to get bored of skiing epic in bounds terrain at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, which you won’t, rest assured… Revelstoke is an amazing base to try heliskiing and catskiing. Join Selkirk Tangiers or Eagle Pass for a mind blowing day of heliski bliss, or Great Northern Snowcats for an equally mind blowing day of cat skiing, just south of Revelstoke.

This is also a haven for multiday heli and cat ski packages, with a number of operators in the area, including CMH, Eagle Pass, Selkirk Tangiers, Mica, K3, Mustang Powder, and even Purcell and Kingfisher not too far away.

Ample Dining And Snack Options

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is covered in cool places to grab a bite. Not like Whistler or anything, but there are…. well, 5, which is pretty cool for the Powder Highway. Grab a bagel at La Baguette in the morning, then a coffee at Mackenzie’s Outpost, then lunch at Revelation Lodge, then have wings at Rockford Grill, then top it off with a dark beer at Mackenzies Commons. Bottoms up!

An Epic Ski Town

Revelstoke is still fairly new in the ski town line up, but over the past ten years this town has been re-inventing itself year after year. What used to be old railyard pubs are now taco bars and ski shops, plus there seem to be new hotels here every year. Rest assured the town still maintains its old time charm, while becoming a more vibrant base for skiers and snowboarders like yourself.

Backcountry ski mecca

Revelstoke has the perfect DNA of perfect backcountry skiing in Canada. Big mountains (This is where the tectonic plates collided) meet moist ocean air current and meet cold artic, inland air. This is where it all happens- biblical snowfall and terrain to knock your socks off.

Roger’s Pass is just a short ride up the highway and there is a lifetime’s worth of terrain to explore. The sidecountry at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is not to be overlooked either, with a variety of tree skiing, open bowls and steeps. There is sled access terrain, and terrain I can’t even tell you about! Come spend some time here and you’ll see what it’s all about. If you don’t have time, I would suggest you join one of our backcountry ski programs, where you riders of all levels can learn the skills to travel in the backcountry and gain some experience with expert guides.

An ikon pass partner destination

Revelstoke Mountain Resort joined forces with the Ikon Pass, offering 7 complimentary ski days at the resort. If you have an Ikon Pass or are thinking about getting one, this is all the more reason to come and experience one of the best ski towns in Canada!

Bottom Line

OK, I may not be so convincing because I don’t do well at writing about places to dine. If you want to ski some of the best snow in North America, and some of the best terrain in North America, you should probably have Revelstoke on your bucketlist.

Make it easy on yourself by joining a guided tour of the Powder Highway with Fresh Adventures and you get the benefit of travelling with local guides who can get you right to the goods in plenty of style.
