When Is Best To Visit Yellowstone National Park?
Summer (June- August): Warm, sunny days ideal for hiking. Evenings can be cool.
Fall (September- October): Popular for wildlife viewing during elk rut. Days are cooler (50-60 degrees f), nights are cooler.
Winter (November-March): Winter conditions limit access. Park is very quiet.
Spring (April-May): Unpredictable weather, cold and wet with muddy trails. Excellent time to see bears and wolves.
Our favorite times to hike in Yellowstone National Park is during late spring, summer and early fall months, when the trails are free of snow and weather is at its most pleasant. Summer tours are best for easy, predictable weather, while fall is great for wildlife and dramatic photos.
